The mandala food garden at the All Saints Estate in South Wimbledon was finished in the summer of 2023

Nourishing food growing gardening and wellbeing workshops

Gardens are the perfect space to cultivate our wellbeing as well as our food. Our Lady of Greens organises soul nourishing food gardening wellbeing workshops, including gardening tasks, meditation, yoga and our very unique Zen Kombucha circles.

There are numerous advantages to growing vegetables using a mandala shape, where plants are distributed and grown around a circular pattern, like easier access to plants; a more visually attractive and interesting design; and the creation of a harmonious space that can encourage mindfulness and meditation.

This summer we finished the design and implementation of a Mandala Food Garden at the All Saints Estate in Wimbledon. The project came about as a result of a workshop organised by the Clarion Housing Group where local residents and stakeholders discussed ways to improve access to green spaces in the area.

We have worked with the residents for over a year to create this mandala garden -including a compost making area and a rain harvest collection tank- which will be fully run by the residents going forward.

Matt Parsonage, Head of Communities at Clarion Futures, said: “At Clarion, we’re passionate about supporting our residents and the communities in which they live. We were looking for ideas that allowed urban communities to connect with green spaces, and we’re delighted to be funding Our Lady of Greens which is a Merton-based organisation run by a local resident. Working together we can make a real difference to local people, as the team at Our Lady of Greens clearly share our passion for contributing to the development of more sustainable local communities and this presented a perfect partnership opportunity for us”.
